TIPS, TOOLS & TRICKS OF THE TRADE 2.0
Several online resources. Explanatory comments follow each entry:
LiveSurface
A nifty resource for larger studios doing design across multiple media or for designers involved in large-scale brand work... Quickly and easily apply graphics to a billboard, carton, poster, coffee bag or spray bottle. Watch the short demo for an idea.
The Learn List
A portal site with links and ratings of all sorts of software tutorial sites. Get great resources to learn about everything from Flash to Photoshop to After Effects to Action Scripting... the perpetual student’s best friend.
The Granger Collection
Have a small photo budget and a project that is not conducive to royalty-free stock art? Try the Granger Collection’s library of royalty free illustrations... elegant and unusual, and often cheaper than most stock photos!
Best Brands of the World
Need vector art of a company’s logo that your client has not provided you with? Well scroll to the bottom of this page and do a search on this site. If they have it, download EPS vector files for free. And I believe you can upload too. Works best for the better known co's of the world — but we have had success with some smaller ones too.
Doane Paper
Joseph discovered this nifty find for us: graph paper and notebook paper combined — all in one lovely sheet. Buy some or just download the free PDFs to print yourself!
EL CO Labs Poster Special
Great prices and unbelievable quality on oversize photo prints. We have used these for in store posters for many of our smaller clients with great success.
Permanent Collection Catalog
Bradley and Meryl McKean Dicharry’s new line of letterpress greeting cards. Check out their offerings in this PDF.
DS Letterpress Guide
A great portal for finding various fine letterpress printers and products across the country.
Typecuts
Our new very favoritest type foundry. Be sure to examine “Switch”...
DS Type
Our second very favoritest type foundry. Ventura, Musee and Leitura are all quite nice...
GENERATE
Intriguing design items — from furnishings to gadgets to applications — of all types can found on this site.
offecct
If we were a giant multimillion dollar NYC agency, all our furniture would come from these wonderful Swedes.
Die Gestalten
A wonderful resource for all sorts of typographic and design interests, from books to fonts to kits to services... Thanks to Joseph for finding this one.
Flak Photo
For you art directors with big budgets to hire any photographer you want, or for photo fanatics or for you designers looking for innovative photo application tricks, look to Flak Photo, a international photographer blog-zine.

These are fabulous — thnx, Widgeteers. I also like designboom. It's a little of everything: interviews, competitions, history, stuff to buy, what's happening in all areas of design, etc. Just like design exploded... wait... anyways, here:http://www.designboom.com/eng/

Well, this find is sad for LiveSurface, but happy for anyone with Photoshop CS3 - you can accomplish virtually the same thing with a little effort:
