Studio provides brand communications strategy

Sept 26, 2008 - Dave Matz, Director of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance, retained Widgets & Stone to help the organization craft a brand communications strategy to members, vendors and consumers. The studio will work with the leadership of the well established organization to develop a concise and consisent brand message. Widgets & Stone will work with the existing visual identity, but will provide services including research, brand strategy, brand development, writing and communications design.

Design as Service

Could the profession do more for community than we think it could?

Yes, it is true that the design profession is considered a service (although designers are just as often providing a product too), but that's not the kind of "service" this entry will discuss... The kind of service I see design and the design process providing is "the act of helping someone" -- like a servant, truly serving an organization or an individual. More often than not, this aspect of our role is resented rather than celebrated -- why? What would happen if more of us saw this as our highest purpose as designers?
